So, what makes Wimberley so unique?

Well... it's all about the vibe.

This isn't your typical small town.

No.  It’s a close-knit community that truly values nature, creativity, and a relaxed pace of life.  If you are a child of the 60s, you know what I'm talking about.

The town's unofficial motto is "A little bit of heaven".

Free Checklist: 10 Things to Book First

When Judy and I travel, we are always looking for new, different and unusual places to eat.  The food has always been a highlight of our travels.

I think it may be that when we were both younger, eating out happened very seldom.  And so when we did get the chance to have a meal out, it seemed like a luxury.

As a kid, I remember going to the sale barn with my grandpa.  I always really looked forward to that.  Because I knew I would get to order a hamburger at lunchtime.

Now that we are able to eat out more often, it's always a treat.

So...

bring on the food!

Around Wimberley, the culinary landscape is diverse and delicious  It covers a range from everything casual to gourmet pizza and elegant, farm-to-table dining experiences.

For a truly memorable fine dining experience, you should consider visiting The Leaning Pear.

It’s sits right on the banks of scenic Cypress Creek, so the views are about as incredible as the food.

Their menu is creative and changes with the seasons, focusing on fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Imagine enjoying a perfectly prepared dish with a glass of wine on their beautiful patio.

Combining the food, views, service and atmosphere... it’s the kind of meal that turns a great vacation into an unforgettable one.

But with any dining spot you choose, though, Wimberley is sure to surprise and delight you.

The Wimberley Cage

Over recent years, Judy and I have very often eaten at the Wimberley Cafe

Breakfast is our thing, so that's what we usually order.

It still remains one of our favorite places.

If you're in the mood for something a little more laid-back but equally delicious, Community Pizza & Beer Garden is the place to be.

Don't let the casual name fool you, though.

They serve up some seriously amazing wood-fired pizzas.  They have the usual pizza toppings, but also some unusual and very inventive toppings too.

The sprawling outdoor garden is perfect for a sunny afternoon or a pleasant evening.

It's a fun, lively spot where you can enjoy great food, a huge selection of craft beers, and the company of friends and family.

Willkommen

In other words, Welcome.

One of the things you’ll notice about Wimberley is just how welcoming everyone is.  The warm, friendly people are a huge part of Wimberley's charm.

Shop owners don't just sell you things; they share stories about the local artists they feature.

Waitstaff at the restaurants are happy to recommend their favorite dishes with a genuine smile. You’ll feel less like a visitor and more like someone who truly belongs.

It's this genuine hospitality that makes you want to come back again and again.

They offer a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for both seasoned wine lovers and curious newcomers.

You can sample a wide variety of their wines, from crisp whites to bold reds, in their charming tasting room.

They also create specialty blends, such as their Christmas blend.  A red wine flavored with cinnamon, cloves, and star anise.   Meant to be served warm.

Or, just grab a bottle of your favorite wine, find a spot under their shady oak trees, and enjoy the peaceful serenity of the multi-level deck.

visit whenever you like

Wimberley Texas weather is often quite perfect for exploration, with mild winters and warm summers with lots of Texas sunshine.  Hiking trails offer peaceful serenity amid lush greenery and scenic views.

But Wimberley recreation isn't limited to just hiking. Canoeing on the Blanco River or a swim in the Wimberley Blue Hole provides refreshing interaction with nature. Or try your hand at a zip line.

Jacob's Well is another incredible spot worth checking out.  It's an artesian spring that is the headwaters of Cypress Creek. It's popular, though, so be sure to make reservations online well in advance, especially for a summer visit!

lodging choices

You may want more than a day trip once you see what it's like.  So where are you going to rest your head?

Wimberley’s lodging possibilities are as unique and charming as the town itself.

Forget generic hotel chains, though.

Here, you can choose from cozy, romantic cabins tucked away in the woods, stylish boutique hotels right off the square, or spacious vacation homes with private access to the creek.

There’s truly something to fit every taste and create your perfect home away from home.

For those who appreciate chic design and a touch of luxury, Hotel Flora and Fauna is an absolute gem. This boutique hotel offers uniquely decorated rooms with a cool, modern vibe right in the heart of town.
