Unlike the vast, flat landscapes that many people picture when they think of Texas, this region is a wonderful surprise.

Here's a photo for you to the left... just in case I needed to remind you.

The incredible geography creates a breathtaking backdrop for everything you’ll do here, making it a place you won't soon forget.

The natural beauty here is simply stunning, and it’s best explored by car (or on foot).

Use your map to trace scenic routes like the Willow City Loop, which is legendary for its wildflower displays in the spring.

Wine and food

You might be surprised to learn that this region of Texas is the second-largest certified wine-growing region in America!

The area, especially along the famous Highway 290 Wine Road, is dotted with dozens of award-winning wineries.  What an easy way to discover some truly fantastic wines.

Of course, great wine deserves great food, and the culinary landscape around here is simply exploding.

You'll find everything from authentic German smokehouses in Fredericksburg to sophisticated, farm-to-table restaurants that would be at home in any major city.

Lodging and hospitality

Your lodging possibilities are as diverse and charming as the region itself.

You can indulge in a luxury resort with a spa and golf course, check into a chic boutique hotel on a historic town square, or find the perfect cozy bed and breakfast for a romantic weekend.

There are also countless unique cabins and guesthouses that immerse you in the peaceful serenity of the countryside.

And you'll find that the people in the Hill Country have a genuine warmth and friendliness here that is truly special.

Festivals and fun

There’s always something happening in the Hill Country!

The calendar is packed with special events and festivals that celebrate the local culture.

You can explore the German heritage of Fredericksburg on its historic Main Street.  Or... catch some live music in the legendary dance hall in Luckenbach, a tiny town with a huge musical heart.

In the fall, you can enjoy Wurstfest in New Braunfels, a huge celebration of German heritage, or one of the many grape stomps at local wineries.

No matter when you visit, you're likely to find a fun event to join.  There's so much more to do than you could ever fit into one trip.

anytime is a good time

Honestly, there’s no bad time to visit. Spring is famous for its breathtaking explosion of wildflowers.

Summer is perfect for swimming, tubing, and enjoying the long, sunny days.

Fall brings cooler, crisp air, making it ideal for hiking and attending harvest festivals.

And winter offers a cozier, more intimate experience, perfect for relaxing by a fire with a glass of bold red wine.
